Looking for a Zen Teacher in the UK

Looking for a Zen Teacher in the UK

Postby zenmatty on Tue Jun 23, 2015 9:15 am

Hello All,

I have been studying Zen on my own for several months now, practicing zazen at least once a day, if not twice.

I really feel I am in need of a teacher at this stage of my practice, and am wondering if any members may be able to offer advice of any Zen centres local to me (Bournemouth area of the UK). I understand that good teachers are hard to come by and am therefore prepared to travel reasonable distances.

Many thanks in advance,
Matt

I would recommend him, based on what other practitioners have said here and some other informations:

Yes, I'd recommend him also. I did a weekend retreat with him in CA.

Go to http://www.buddhanet.net. They have a worldwide listing of Buddhist practice places. Go to the listings for the UK, and you'll find many Zen Buddhist practice places; some have teachers in residence and some have teachers who serve them. After you've found a few, check them out.

Hands palm-to-palm,

Sorry, when I read the subject-line, the old eyes insisted for a moment "Looking for a Zen Teacher in the Dark".

Right! It could be difficult. So many of them wear black (and so do we come to do, after a bit).

I hope it's relatively easy, and satisfying.

best,
