Guo Gu,

I will miss the meetup and the dedication of the Center this weekend. I send best greetings and wishes to you, to Meido Roshi, to Rikki, and to everyone else assembled who has come to honor Shihfu, and attend the opening of the center dedicated to him in his name, there, which you have built. Kudos!, and many blessings to all.

--Joe

ps I remember when this statue pictured below first turned up at the Ch'an Center in New York, or at least when I saw it first, after the Ch'an retreat in May, 1979 (my first; it had been held at Bodhi House). This statue at the Chan Center made a very strong impression on me at that time, as my seeing it again now does, in this frame from a video you alerted me to about the early days in New York. I believe it may be a Burmese Alabaster Marble Buddha. Maybe you have more information on it? Is there a story or a history about it? Shihfu seemed to keep the statue with the scroll of Kuan Yin, and the framed Bodhi Tree leaf. I suppose this was Shihfu's altar? -J.

Your link did not go to the named video when I tried it.
Changed the "m.youtube" to "www.youtube", as shown below, and it worked for me.

Thanks for posting this music.

Did a google "translate" on the lyrics and got this:

[Verse 1]
Go ahead with proof of your talent
Cap the prize and know the value
Hate and step to your job
Instead of good bi 'competitor goes

Let's write it and press it where
Where do the national channels come from?
I pressed the Turkish Rap fifty times
The real nobility is to write the

Justice is your well-known fear returns, returns the calculator, returns the stalk, rotates the butcher
The chicken returns from Kadıköy. Fisherman from Karaköy
He calls me a madman who sees me. This is the crazy crazy
Elimination of the word in the word

Good and mad this is the trouble. Some are so crazy Mert
Who is crazy generous
Who is so clueless
Kim's narcosis
Whose shit

[Hook] (x2)
Hey! If you did not have a trump in hand
What? The poppy is in the right brain, man.
Hey! Is this an attempt? Not like that, hey
Hey! Today, fifty things

[Verse 2]
**Zero two zero nine and head nine
Zero six zero nine and head thirty
I do not think thirty, hocus pocus, downhill bolsa
Easy to fool someone who is not at home easily

Some mat. The adversary
Who is it? Who can write
Someone succeeds. I write some
How is this one? It's a pity

That one's a real tummy
How are his perceptions? The perceptions are zero!
I go through the cabin and make vocals
I did not pick up my bookmarks

Involuntary discretion
I wish I had the trade removed from trading.
How many Euros in Europe can the Turkish body be?
How many liras are Turkish bodies in Turkey? Some güler
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow. --R.H.

As long as the artist and song are identified, I'll find it. I appreciate exploring new music, or reconnecting with old favorites.

hi everyone,

this past weekend was amazing. we had the abbot of our lineage, his attendant monk, two nuns from our branch in ny, visiting teachers like meido and narayan liebenson (of cambridge insight meditation center in ma), my teacher's long time student, rikki asher, visitors from taiwan, st. louis, california, nyc, nj, and our tallahassee center.

we had a series of events besides the grand consecration ceremony. on friday we had a purification ritual of the grounds and premise. the abbot of dharma drum and his entourage led the ceremony. that evening, we had an informal gathering of the visitors from out of town (mostly taiwanese from ny and nj); i gave an intro of the history of tallahassee chan center and my relationship with my teacher, master sheng yen. here's a photo of that night:

Friday evening group photo 1 email IMG_8076.jpg

on sat we had the formal "eye-opening" ceremony and consecration ritual. here's a picture of the attendees. abbot and his attendant from taiwan, nuns from our branch in ny, visitors from taiwan, meido, narayan, and tallahassee practitioners:

Sat. events all attendees photo 2.jpg

on each evening i asked the visiting teachers to give a dharma sharing to my students and visitors. meeting meido after 27 years was a real delight. so happy to see him and hear him talk at the center. it is truly amazing how our paths crossed and now come around again.

i also ask narayan liebenson, one of the two guiding vipassana teachers at cambridge insight meditation center, to share her experiences practicing with my teacher for over 10 yrs. she was a real delight to hear too.

i'm grateful for all those who came out to support us, especially meido who came out and i know he had just returned from germany. hopefully we would have other collaborations in the future.

for many of you, i know you were here in spirit. grateful for your support. the tallahassee chan center is a bodhimandala of gratitude, dedicated to my teacher, master sheng yen, for the benefit of all. i invite you all to visit sometime.

be well,
guo gu
