Can't remember if I asked you before Guo Gu,
does the temple have a house cat?

Last night I dreamt of 3 fukasetsu's being born, which were exact copies of my cat fukasetsu.
If you want I can dream up one for you :lol2:

here she is in 2008

She can also protect the Buddha

Every temple needs a cat wouldn't you say?

ps I remember Sheng Yen and the Mother tiger in the cave... would be nice if there's a link or appearing in the temple.

Every "cat" needs somebody to lean on.

Occasionally one of mine will cuddle into my lap while I'm sitting Zazen

It feels so nice :)

That's nice Mike, my other cat (muivertje) sometimes jumps on my shoulders and miauws in front of my face for about 5-10 minutes,
then she gives up and goes to sleep somewhere, fuki is always close. She always sits next to the keyboard or lies on the chair besides this chair, she is sticky wherever I am at home. Never had a pet on my lap during zazen, they're either very close or they try to persuade me to do more entertaining stuff for them :lol2:

no temple cat yet... i have students allergic to cats! maybe by having a cat their allergy will be cured...
three cats huh? did they come from one (you) or one come from three?
the story of the mother tiger in the cave was related to my first meditation teacher, guangqin: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guang_Qin (not sheng yen), an ascetic monk. learned to sit when i was four from him. i met sheng yen when i was 11.
my cat, gen gen, sit with me everyday...
be well,

Sorry to have mixed up your teachers Guo Gu, I only remembered you telling the story and just assumed it was Sheng Yen.

The one, the three, arises from which everything and everyone and everythree arises and returns,
humans, cats, birds and big bangs. All characters known as sentient beings flashing in the funhouse of totality.

It arises like this, and everything issues forth from this.

But the imagery was depended on that afternoon before that night of the dream, my mom sended me a picture of a stork
on a chimney, and I asked her "when do the kittens arrive" same night I dream about kittens :lol2:

And then we disappeared in each other, "equally arriving."

just did the calligraphy for the chinese name of our center last night; it will be made into a wooden sign, to be hung under the eve of the front entry:

chinese calligraphy sign-1.jpg

it says sheng yen chan yuan (reading from right to left, in the traditional way). the first two character are the name of my teacher (sheng yen). it means chan cloister of holy adornment or chan cloister adorned with holiness.

be well,
