Discussions of Zen Buddhism in all shapes and sizes.
People here are just so nice ... lol
This week has predictions of 18 inches of snow
Winter has not given up its grip upon the northeast
Soon it will be time to plant this summer's beauty and this autumn's harvest
And the cycle continues for yet another year
Only wish people actually felt and saw what happens when it is time to harvest an animal
Then maybe, a different attitude may come about towards eating meat
Edit: what kind of practice is it ... when one follows what one understands about Buddhism?
Never mind. I am thinking may be this really isn't for me.
hiya, again, Av,
I'm always one to answer a rhetorical question; it was part of my training at the Ivy university as a Philosopher.
The question is cloudy and not specific. Can't you be a little more vague, please? But I'll take a kindly stab at it, to please myself:
"Now at last I know that my eyes are horizontal, and my nose is vertical".
'Don't settle for cheap imitations',
Av, et al.,
Yes, it was Dogen, for one.
Here's an accounting of the tale, at the time of the utterance:
He said, “I came back empty-handed.”
“What did you learn?”
“Not much, except gentle-heartedness.”
“And,” he added, “I learned that eyes are horizontal, nose is vertical.”
