Thanks. I've been travelling almost nonstop for the past five weeks, to Peru and then Poland, so thought I'd dip my toes in again now the dust has settled.

I was reflecting on it this morning and it occurs to me that motivation/aspiration is sort of the flipside to expectation and probably a good toggle to fiddle with to manage these things.
I remember one time during a retreat where I was really sucking myself into a hole of "I'm not getting what I want out of this. I'm wasting my effort here". Then after a while a voice whispered within "Who are you practising for?" That who was kind of a double-whammy in that it hit me both as a "is all this just for yourself?" and a hard slapping "WHO?" And suddenly I didn't much care about what I got out of it for the remainder of the retreat.

Incidentally, before I was called Meido, it was Keith. My mother still prefers the latter :)

Your mother understands her job. :)

A trivial story:

I was originally going to be named "Richard", a good royal name. Family politics intervened because of an uncle with the same name, so my dad threw his hands up and went with "Keith". I have never really like the name, if I am being honest. But, it doesn't matter much in the end, does it? :lol2:
