Resizing picture for new avatar - problems.

Postby Sparkle on Sat Apr 06, 2013 4:39 pm

Wondering if anyone can help.

I've re-sized a picture on a couple of different web-sites and tried it. Its a jpeg and its less than 145x145 and 185kb but the site won't accept it.

Tried it umpteen times? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Stu.

Getting:

The submitted avatar is 0 pixels wide and 0 pixels high. Avatars must be at least 10 pixels wide and 10 pixels high, but no larger than 145 pixels wide and 145 pixels high.

try saving it on your computer under a different name and try again. Sometimes that helps in other similar situations. Otherwise, I dunno.

Thanks Carol, I tried that but no joy. Going to try it from a different machine when I get a chance. No picture for the time being.

Have you tried Photobucket? They have a setting where you can simply click and change a photo to an avatar size.

I loaded it onto photobucket as I thought I could just link to it from here. I will try that and get back to you. Thanks Lisa.

Resized it on there and it still doesn't like it. No worries. Thanks!

Weird- that's how I did my avatar, I uploaded it to Photobucket, then resized it to avatar size, and downloaded it as a file onto my computer.

Maybe there is a technical issue here?

Had success resizing mine to 145 max in a simple image manipulation program. The original image was huge, made by scanning two fresh Bodhi Tree leaves from a tree in my garden here directly on the glass of my flat-bed scanner.

i suggest that perhaps you must supply a file extension on your file which the board software will ACCEPT for an image: like .JPG, .GIF, etc. Without such a proper extension, the system might not know what to do, and simply choke to indicate unhelpfully some default error code, by finding "zero pixels". Well, easy for you to check this, anyway. Good luck!

Be "seeing you"? ;-)

I sent you a PM. If you send me the photo I might be able to tell what the problem is.

Done and sent - fingers crossed.

Feel like I'm making a fuss for a pretty ugly picture lol

Still, I think its better to see who you're talking to if possible.
