Mobile

I don't know how difficult it is to do this, but a mobile version of this site would be awesome.

Yes, it would.

Ah- ha! This could be why ZFI traffic has fallen off over the last 1 + years

I don't own a smartphone. No coverage in these whops. Even if, I would not bother. My screen is 1 m wide (TV) :)

R U telling me ZFI will not open on a smartphone, or that it don't fit?

Thanks

There are a couple of mobile styles for 3.0 that you could install. However, the best way would be to upgrade to the newest version of 3.1.3 which is responsive by default.

Every regular web site opens in a browser on a smartphone. The issue is, it fits sometimes pretty ugly, while the mobile version designed especially for smartphone screen alignment looks way more nice and readable. Not to say easy to operate.

On an Android-based 7-inch tablet, ZFI looks and operates great.

Just tried on a 5 inch smart phone. Works fine and it looks fine. The drawback is that one needs to zoom the page in order to read easily the opened thread and post a reply.

Personally don't use phone to surf the net, only to check something now and then, but if I was regular or heavy mobile user, probably mobile version of this site would be preferable.

For cutting firewood and for fine woodworking one uses different tools. Not that fine work with an axe is not possible. It is just much more complicated.

Posted from a smartphone. Definitely a mobile style would simplify the task for a mobile phone user.

So I've heard. :tongueincheek:

That may be so.

When I write that ZFI looks and operates great on a tablet, I mean just that. In lieu of access to a computer, given a choice I'd use a tablet, not a phone: the board seems ready-to-go, "as-is", on a tablet. But I gather the board might need changes to make it more convenient on a phone.

I agree that there is a proper tool for a purpose or task.

Joe. When installed each user will have a choice of how the board is presented to him and his device. There will be a selection you will see somewhere on top of your screen. The more styles are installed the more ways there are you will see the board. Like blue yellow or green. Or black.
