How the "Ask A Teacher" Forum works.

The Ask A Teacher section of ZFI is for members to pose questions to Zen Teachers. Only Zen Teachers can respond to these questions... responses from other forum members will not be approved by the moderators.

If you would like to ask a question for a teacher, just post your question as a new topic in the "Ask A Teacher" forum. Your question will not appear immediately, as a moderator will have to approve it.

If other members would like to discuss or debate the question, they can open a new topic in another part of the forum for discussion.

We hope this part of the forum will be helpful to our members, and we encourage our members to use this part of the forum in order to hear from trained and established Zen teachers who have been authorized in their lineage to guide the practice of Zen students.

Currently (as of April 2013) ZFI has ten Zen teachers authorized to answer questions in this forum --

Three years ago, Koun and his family moved back to Japan (Kumamoto), where he studies, trains, lectures, and does Buddhist-related translation work. He maintains the Nyoho Zen blog.

Eshin John Godfrey -- Abbot, Zen Centre of Vancouver, Rinzai Zen Osho in the lineage Joshu Sasaki Roshi. http://www.zen.ca/zen_centre.html

He is a successor to Dainin Katagiri and trains in koan introspective with James Ford and Melissa Blacker. Dosho's Wild Fox Zen blog can be found at http://www.patheos.com/blogs/wildfoxzen.

We hope to add more teachers from other Zen schools and lineages as well. If you are a Zen teacher or know a Zen teacher you would like to recommend, please send a PM to the moderators. We would especially like to add women teachers, as well as teachers from lineages not yet represented here. We will verify the teacher's lineage and authorization to teach in order to insure that we have trained and experienced Zen teachers our members' questions in this part of the forum.

Please note that different Zen schools do take different approaches and methods ... so there may be different perspectives presented here. We all have much to learn.

ZFI thanks the teachers who have generously agreed to give us their time and guidance.
