What a coincidence--two films about Western-born tulkus out at the same time! See: http://www.nfb.ca/film/tulku_trailer

for a film by one of Trungpa Rinpoche's sons, said to be the reincarnation of his father's teacher. Gesar Mukpo travels around the West and to India to interview Western adults who were identified as tulkus when they were children. In combination with his own observations of life as a Western-born tulku, he gives his audience a view of Western reincarnate lamas given a traditional Tibetan upbringing and education as tulkus.
