Favorite translation of the Diamond Sutra?

Postby WontonCarter on Sun Sep 10, 2017 8:54 pm

Hello! I was just wondering what everyone's favorite translation of the Diamond Sutra is? I think I've only read the TNH one all the way through, although I have the Red Pine one around.

I like Conze's translation from the Sanskrit (http://www.buddhistische-gesellschaft-b ... aconze.pdf) probably because I read it first!

Speaking of (free) Diamond Sutra translations, there is also a translation from the Chinese

Howdy - sorry I never really got to grips with the diamond sutra (I've got Conze's version) However I quite liked this guy's abbreviated/simplified version : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gzUDYNCD67YphOAI8HpsxO6T0NoiHe3IUKC29sSxNN0/edit?usp=sharing

This one is quite good, imho:

It has a fair amount of historical background and Mu Soeng can be counted on for a good translation.
